"Local Journalist On Trial For "Insult""

This is what the cases in Monaco over the website look like to me. Monaco deserves to be in much better company, something it could achieve by ridding itself of the actions taken in the last couple of weeks.

Shameful

Monaco has dissolved a rights advocacy organizaiton, had Switzerland take down a website hosted there and has started prosecutions against at least two individuals because leaders there have no meaningful commitment to freedom of expression. It is shameful, embarrassing for Monaco, and will - I predict - become a much bigger problem for Monaco in the eyes of the rest of the world very shortly. Prince Albert should, instead, announce a renewed commitment to press and expression freedom in his country and undo all that has happened there in the last couple of weeks. I will post links later to some of the comments and stories relating to the actions taken by the Monaco government and its prosecutors.
